Steamfitter (Service Division)
Job Description
Primary Objective:
To perform all levels of installation, repair and preventive maintenance on all steam distribution, chilled water, domestic water, air, gas and vacuum systems and assist all higher level mechanics in their areas of responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installing, repairing and maintaining Steam and Hot Water boilers and their associated systems, regulation and controlling devices; valves; steam trap pressure reducers; strainers; coils; pumps; power plant piping systems; pneumatic control systems; general mechanical and structural
- Packing expansion joints
- Cutting, bends, threads, welds, solders or brazing of pipe
- Testing pipes for leaks
- Planning the use of materials for system repairs, installations and maintenance
- Supervising subordinates personnel assigned to assist.
- Working effectively in a flexible Team environment and communicate clearly with all others
- Assisting other Maintenance Technicians as required
Requirements:
- Hold a valid C of Q in Steamfitter
- Posses 6G welding ticket
- G2 or G1 gas ticket is an asset.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience field service industry
- Fully knowledgeable of pipe and fitting material, valves types, gasket materials, bolting, steam trap types and their operation
- Proven experience in the use of hand tools, torque wrenches, impact guns, cutting and threading machines, grinders, oxy-acetylene torches, and a variety of shop tools and equipment
- Possess a valid G1 driver license
- Ability to work in a variety of different work environments both indoors and outdoors
- Shift work and overtime work is a requirement
- Candidates must be comfortable in doing heavy lifting, using of ladders, and working on elevated surfaces such as man lifts, scaffolds and platforms.
- Clear understanding of the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OSHA)
- Successful candidates may be required to pass a welding test
- Excellent and proven organizational skills in order to meet multiple deadlines and handle multiple tasks within a high-pressure work environment;
- Ability to work effectively independently or as a team player
