Manufacturing Estimator
Primary Objective:
To prepare complete cost estimates and proposals for pressure vessels, heat exchangers, boilers and other custom equipment for the manufacturing division.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reviewing customer RFQ (Request for Quotations), specifications, commercial, schedule requirements, and bid documents
- Preparing and distributing bid appraisal forms
- Preparing complete list of materials and quantity take off
- Sourcing and obtaining prices and deliveries times for all materials, parts and equipment
- Sourcing and obtaining prices and deliveries for services such as cleaning and painting, PWHT, transportation, NDT, rolling and forming, and other sublets
- Preparing labour cost estimates to complete the work in accordance the RFQ requirements and specified codes and standards
- Preparing project cost estimate summary showing all related costs
- Providing information for and participating in bid review meetings
- Providing input for risk assessment for at least the following topics:
- Degree of Engineering risk
- Quality of Estimate
- Manpower availability
- Schedule
- Availability of procured items at estimated prices and schedule
- Background (previous experience)
- Financial Risk, terms, escalation, exchange rate
- Compiling estimating standards based on common items
- Preparing complete list of exclusions and exceptions to customers’ RFQ
- Preparing detailed proposal to be submitted to the customer
- Assembling and filing documents for project bids
- Preparing cost estimate for contract revisions and extras
- Assuring that current shop performance methods are utilized when computing labour costs
- Establishing delivery times in cooperation with the production planner and production supervisor
- Performing other manufacturing associated activities as maybe required by the General Manager

Requirements
- C.E.T. certification an asset or other post-secondary education with minimum 5 years experience or equivalent related trade experience in manufacturing/construction
- Excellent and proven organizational skills in order to meet multiple deadlines and handle multiple tasks within a high-pressure work environment;
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both written and oral;
- Demonstrates computer software proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite;
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment;
- Willing to travel to job sites as required
